The Yakima Greenway features picnic tables, children’s play areas, off leash Dog Park, reservable picnic shelters, bocce ball court, children’s play areas, boat landings, pond & river fishing, nature trails, and restrooms. The Greenway is adjacent to the Yakima Area Arboretum with manicured grounds, a rose garden, Japanese Garden, and Arboretum Gift Shop. Here is a detailed map of all the amenities along the Greenway. To bicycle the entire 18 miles, start at the south entrance to the pathway off I-82. Exit 36, Union Gap. There is a large parking lot on the east side of the freeway. Follow the paved pathway or turn left to follow the unpaved .8 mile Bob & Helen Poppoff Nature Trail. This trail meets up with the paved pathway after skirting the pond.
The pathway borders the Yakima River for 5 miles, then turns directly west to follow the Naches River, running alongside Highway 12. At the 40th Avenue Exit off Hwy 12, there are 2 miles of pathway yet to be completed. To connect with the remaining 8 miles of paved pathway; cross Fruitvale Blvd., continue to the traffic light at River Road and Powerhouse Road. Cross the street to follow Powerhouse Road passed Ackley Road and over the bridge that is parallel to the Hwy 12 Bridge. This side road will connect with Highway 12. Cross Hwy 12 to find the start of the paved pathway to the city of Naches.
