Location Sherman Park Hosted by the Yakima Humane Society shelter. Join over 500 animal enthusiasts showing their support for homeless pets while enjoying the great outdoors - not to mention, a bit of healthy fun! Participants are encouraged, but not required, to bring their well-behaved dog to run or walk the race. All dogs must be licensed and current on their vaccinations and must be leashed at all times. For the safety of other runners, please do not use flexi or retractable leashes. The race begins alongside the Fred Westberg Memorial Picnic Pavilion in Sherman Park. This year we are offering two courses for runners and walkers. The 5K / 3.1 mile course will take you on the Noel Pathway of the Yakima Greenway down to Sarg Hubbard Park and back. The 1 mile course will take you on the Noel Pathway, across the Yakima Area Arboretum and back to Sherman Park.5K Race - begins at 11:00 am

Earn your first medal by run/walking either the Half Marathon, 12k or the 5k on Saturday. Earn your second medal by running/walking, the Dirty Rat Trail Run – 10k, 15k or 25k on Sunday. Third medal: Get your Rat Deux medal after completing two runs in two days. Fourth medal: Sign up for our Sage Rat Virtual Run (not available yet), an anywhere, anytime, any distance run. Fifth medal: Sign up for either the Half Marathon or 12k, as well as the 5k, then finish the Half or 12k run before the 5k start – then run the Sage Rat River Run 5k and get a finishing medal for that run as well. Located in the wine country of Sunnyside, Grandview, Prosser, Washington. Sage Rat Run is designed to bring communities and people together for a happy, healthy, fun run event while raising money for charity and other causes. Run: Ages 6-7 will run 3/4 of a mile. Ages 8-12 will run a total of 1 mile. Ages 13-14 will run 3 miles. The course runs north on the Greenway Path from Sarg Hubbard Park. Runners stay to the right on pathway.Color Powder Paint will be tossed on runners at beginning. Bike: The course runs Soult along the pathway. Distances are approximately 1.4 miles for ages 6-7, 2.5 miles for ages 8-12 and 6 miles for ages 13-14.ANSI approved helmets are required.Steeple Chase: Bales of hay, potato sack, crawl. Water Course: (Ages 6-7 do not participate in this leg.) The course is run on the Reflection Pond located at Robertson Amphitheatre. Ages 8-12 circle the course once and ages 13-14 will circle twice. The course will be marked with buoys. Boats and paddles will be provided to all participants by the Gap2Gap.
Wearing of a US Coast Guard type I or III PFD and ANSI approved helmet is mandatory. PFDs must remain on until after the exchange is complete. Obstacle Course: Contained within Sarg Hubbard Park. (Including a slip n slide) All Ages. No cleated or spiked shoes. Water involved, you will get wet.

Army Base Half-Marathon 5K Race

Race Information: The Howard's Medical Army Base Race allows runners to run onto a United States Army Base. The Yakima Training Center will have military equipment stationed along the running route on the base and have some displays down at Carlon Park. After the race there will be music and food at Carlon Park. The awards for fastest runners will be given out at 11:45am at Carlon Park as well. In 2014 the Japanese Army had 200 plus participants entered into the race. The Japanese were fast and have taken top times each year they have participated. Come out and challenge them and yourself and see if you can take home gold! All runners get dog tags for participating in the event and top finishers take home trophies made from fired artillery shells. This is truly a one of a kind event, come out and have a blast in Selah.
Pickup Race Packet 5:30pm evening before Race @ Selah Civic Center. Next day Sign up & Check in @ 6:30 - 7:30am. Half Marathon at 8:00am.5K at 8:15 am. Kids run at 10:00 am. Awards at 11:45am.
