This weekend, the Roots & Vines Festival will kick off Festival Season in the Yakima Valley. May 16, 2-10p.m. on Historic N. Front Street, Americana, Roots & Bluegrass music will be celebrated, featuring craft beverages made in Yakima. Enjoy Fruition Polecat, Sleepy Man, Hillstomp. Polecat a high-energy show with a unique take on roots music, Fruition, a string-infused Portland quintet embodies the sound of Americana, Hillstomp, a Portland duo that blends north Mississippi trance blues, punkabilly, and other musical forms, and Sleepy Man, a trio of young brothers (17, 16, and 13 years old) with over 20 million views on YouTube, and have been on David Letterman Show and The Today Show. Blake Noble Band, Lil’Smokies, Vaudeville Etiquette, The Common Deer, and John Dunnigan will also be performing. For full schedule, click here. The Sportscenter Restaurant & Sports Bar will host the festival Kickoff Party on May 15TH. The Warren G. Hardings will play an all ages show from 7p.m -9:45p.m.

The Main Stage will showcase Too Slim and the Taildraggers at 3:45 p.m., Curtis Salgado at 6:00 p.m., and Nathan & Zydeco Cha Chas at 8:30 p.m. The Opera House Stage will feature Brian Lee and the Orbiters at 2:45 p.m., Shoot Jake at 5:00 p.m., and Seattle-based The Wired! Yakima Folklife Festival July 10-12, 2015 in Franklin Park. Free Admission starts with the Friday Night Concert in the Park 6:30p - 9:00p. Then Friday & Saturday Downtown Yakima Venues: 5 North Metro Kitchen and Lounge, Gilbert Cellars, Kana Winery, Northtown Coffeehouse, Santiago's and the SportsCenter. The Great Prosser Balloon Rally - Friday September 25 -27, 2015. Hot Air Balloons take to the sky. The balloons are scheduled to launch at sunrise from the Prosser Washington Airport on September 25-27, 2015. (weather permitting). Balloon Pilots from all over the Northwestern United States will converge on Prosser Washington to participate in the Great Prosser Balloon Rally. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early (about 6:15 a.m.) at the Prosser Airport to watch the pilots prepare the giant balloons. Some lucky spectators are even asked to assist the balloon pilots inflate, chase, and recover the Hot-Air-Balloons. Parking and Admission are Free. Come and join us for a weekend full of family activities. The weekend activities include Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Launches, Night Glow, Harvest Festival, Farmers Market, and last but not least Caren Mercer-Andreason Street Painting Festival.
