Experience the thrill of the fastest whitewater in Washington State. For one month the Tieton River becomes a wild ride in Class 3 and 4 rapids, dropping in elevation of 55 feet per mile. Most rivers drop at a rate of only 20 to 30 feet per mile. The water is released from Rimrock Lake Dam into the Tieton River during September to assist irrigation and fish runs.
Most rafters take professionally guided rafting trips. The guides are experienced with all the challenges of the river. They will help the novice be at ease in the first few minutes, until they are paddling like a pro. Then the guide will add a few maneuvers, like paddling upriver, or riding the prow of the raft for a bucking bronco thrill. This guided trip is 12 miles long, taking about 3 hours. The water has been warmed in the lake all summer and is the warmest whitewater rafting in Washington State.
The excitement begins September 5 with Osprey Rafting. Osprey Rafting Company provides wetsuits, paddles, helmets, life jackets, safety talk, friendly & experienced guide, and all transportation to/from our staging area. Each trip includes a BBQ Lunch of beef, chicken or veggie burgers, local watermelon, fresh corn on the cob, chips-salsa and lemonade.
