Toast the Season at the Yakima Craft Beverage Walk!

Toast the Season at the Yakima Craft Beverage Walk!

Take a stroll in downtown Yakima this Saturday!  November 7th is your chance to try unique local craft beverages and visit some local businesses you might never have been to, at Downtown Yakima’s First Craft Beverage Walk!  A variety of local businesses, including the 4th Street Theater, Historic Front Street, Vintage Me, Leading Force Energy and Design, Fit Studio, Yakima Maker Space, and Garden Girl will all open their doors to shoppers and offer tastings of craft beer, cider, wine and spirits.  It’s a perfect opportunity to pick up some wonderful seasonal beverages and holiday gifts!

Why a Craft Beverage Walk in Downtown Yakima? There are a number of reasons to celebrate the beer, wine, cider and spirits the entrepreneurs of Yakima produce:

  1. Yakima is well known as the source of 75% of the hops sold in the USA. Brewers from all over the country come to pick out their premier hops from the Yakima Valley. Each year, rewers “tap” into North America’s leading hops suppliers, breeders, and research brewery, John I Haas. Local brewers participating in the walk are Yakima Craft Brewing, Hop Nation Brewing, Berchman’s Brewing Company and Bale Breaker Brewing.

  1. Apples are the largest agricultural product grown in Washington State and Yakima is the largest apple producing region in the nation. It’s not surprising that locally crafted cider is a huge hit in our Valley. Tieton Cider Works brews their cider exclusively from organic orchards planted in Tieton, way back in the 1920’s. Recently, they moved their tasting room to Downtown Yakima, and will be showcasing many of their seasonal ciders.

  1. In 1983, Yakima Valley became the first official wine growing appellation in the Pacific Northwest. This largest sub-appellation of the Columbia Valley AVA contains a third of the vineyard acreage in Washington State.  Being in such close proximity to the vineyards, Yakima is quickly gaining acclaim for their talented winemakers. AntoLin Cellars, Kana Winery, Wilridge Winery, Naches Heights Vineyard, Gilbert Cellars, and JB Neufeld will be providing your tastings throughout the walk.

  1. The Craft Beverage Walk is a chance to come and taste what is made from the best farm fresh fruit in the Yakima Valley. Glacier Basin Distillery will be pouring their premium brandies, grappas and vodkas, and Swede Hill Distilling will have their exceptional Apple Pie and Cherry Moonshines. Try these straight out of the bottle or use their recipes to make an unforgettable Holiday beverage.

So come down to the Craft Beverage Walk this weekend, and find the perfect beverage to share with friends and family this holiday season. While you’re here, enjoy a day of tasting, shopping, and dining at one of our many downtown restaurants along the way. The event runs from noon to 5:00 pm on November 7th. Tickets are $20 and include five script. There are opportunities to purchase more script along the way. Purchase your tickets online or at AntoLin Cellars, Gilbert Cellars, Kana Winery, Yakima Craft Brewing Company, Tieton Cider Works, Hop Nation Brewing Company, or Bale Breaker Brewing.  See you this Saturday!
