Find Holiday Magic in the Yakima Valley!

Find Holiday Magic in the Yakima Valley!

Christmas is a magical time of year in the Yakima Valley, and we want to make sure you stay in the holiday spirit all season long!  These three events are sure to bring the magic of Christmas a little closer, for couples or the whole family.

Take a winter horse drawn carriage ride through the snow-covered streets of Downtown Yakima!  Let the soothing “clip-clop” of the horse hooves on the pavement soothe you, while you take in the sights and sounds of winter in downtown. Snuggle close while you gaze at the community Christmas tree and the light covered businesses. Take time to step off the carriage for a glass of wine at Gilbert or Antolin Cellars, or pop in for dinner at 5 North Metro Lounge & Restaurant or the Carousel Bistro. If you’re with the family, stop at Northtown Coffee House for a steaming cup of hot cocoa. These free 20 minute rides leave from Millennium Plaza and the Train Depot on North Front Street on Saturday, December 5th,12th, and 19th from noon to 4:00 p.m., and Friday, December 11th and 18th from 5:00-9:00 p.m.

Take a magical candle-lit walk through the wintry wonderland of the Yakima Area Arboretum during the Annual Luminaria Walk, December 11th and 12th, from 6:00-10: p.m. This two-night event will enchant the entire family with over a thousand candles lighting your way.  This mile-long candlelit pathway leads to the 80-foot lighted Norwegian Spruce, the Rose Garden gazebo, lit fountain and more magical. Listen to traditional Christmas tunes floating over the landscape from the Carillon Bell Tower during your walk.  When you finish your walk, warm up with coffee, Tree Top hot cider and cookies in the Jewett Interpretive Center.  There will also be Christmas carolers, local musicians playing Christmas favorites and craft activities for the kids.

The holidays wouldn’t be complete without one of America’s favorite traditions; a production of The Nutcracker at The Capitol Theatre. Travel to the world of enchantment with Clara as she meets the Sugar Plum Fairy, the fearless Pirate Mouse King and the Nutcracker Prince. The Eugene Ballet presents this beloved production, accompanied by the Yakima Symphony Orchestra. There are two shows at 2:00pm and 7:30 p.m. on December 12th.  Get your tickets at here before they are sold out.

We hope you and your family have a safe, fun Holiday season, and you get a chance to get out and explore the magic throughout the Yakima Valley!
